Yet another Fathers Day Card

Ok, this is the last Fathers Day Card. This one is for my Dad from me (well and my family I spose). I really enjoyed making this, it took nearly an hour to do. The idea is that its a photo of Fathers Day this Sunday.

I've put a card on the back so it will stand alone, but I can also write a special message inside. He'll have the choice of hanging it, or standing it on a shelf.

The characters are our family. From left to right: my sisters hubby Robbie, my sister Pammy Peaches, and their dog Chiccy, my bubby girl Kyra, my mum, their dog Tessie, my dad, my step daughter Hannah, my step son Kyle (with the red shirt), me, my darling hubby Shane and mum and dads dog Sally (she's a pug, cant you tell). I have to tell you, the resemblence is uncanny. Actually none of us look like this apart from the dogs.. roflmao.

I'm very proud of this one. My darling is sick of me showing it to him, hehe.

Another fathers day card

I've made this card for my mum to give to my dad. Inside is the information about a concert she is taking him to.

More new cards

Ok, as promised, I have been cardmaking. I finally got around to taking photos of them yesterday, and now I'm taking the opportunity of being home alone to take some photos.

The first 2 are for my dh for Fathers Day. DD saw the first one and announced that she needed one to give to him too. Ok so the second one is a bit feminin, but I like it.

.

The next card is a step card and inspired from 2 sources.

The idea for the step card was found at Creating Cards with Andrea . The colouring of the roses was found at Michell Zindorfs blog It took me forever to find the colours that she asks for but the ARE in the set of complete pens from Stampin Up.

Now I just have to make a card for my Dad.

More Candy

This one is a lovely set of stamps from Fluttabyz Craft Haven. These girls are the cutest. Such lovely girls out there giving gifts all over the world.

Blog candy

There is so much candy to have out there in blog land. Especially for crafters. Mmmm there is some glorious stuff. So one site is The Crafty Den. Go have a look see. So much wonderful stuff. Drool. I'm thinking I'm going to have to start jumping all over blog land after that candy. :)

A little gripe

You know there are a lot of fantastic blogs out there with all sorts of stamping and scrapbooking ideas. Some even have ideas for sale. I bought into one of these sites because I thought it was a great price, even if its just for a month. But when you go to download the templates and instructions, you cant copy them, you cant print them or anything because they are in this special adobe file sharing site. I'm sorry, but if I want to pay for interesting ideas and instructions, I want to be able to print them out and work on them after my one month membership has expired. I dont think I'll be signing up again at the end of the month. They are also a week behind already with getting ideas up online. Nothing since Monday.

I'll keep looking at the ones on Splitcoast Stampers I think. Save my money.

Notable Inspirations

I am the first to admit that I'm not always overly creative. Sometimes, ok often, I go searching the net for inspiration. One of the greatest I've found for inspiration, and a site that I often find myself branching off to other fantastic blogs is priscillastyles. Not only do they have great sketches to work from, but great blog candy and prizes too. You have to go have a look. It's well worth it. There are so many beautiful cards on that blog. I've made more than one card after visiting there.

More creating.

As promised, I've been creating, and have finally taken photos of some of the cards I've been making over the past week. I've been using a paper pack from Stampin Up for the most part. The sweet nothings pack.

Here are 2 made with items only from the pack.

This next one is from the same pack, but with a stamp from Fifth Avenue (Stampin Up)stamped on Shimmer Paper and water coloured.

This last one was inspired from the sketch on Priscilla Styles with their Midnight Madness Challenges. I've done one of these challenges before, but I really liked this sketch and wanted to enter. I like to do challenges, and look forward to doing more. Anyway, this card is made from the same pack with the following Stampin Up stamps: Ebrace Life, Say it with Scallops, and live your dream. I used Chocolate Chip in and my pens from Stampin up. The brads are from Making Memories.

Its the holidays

Its a freezing day here in old cold Canberra. Its 11.30 and 2 degrees. Blah!

Its the first day of the school holidays, dd is still in her jammies even though I've asked her several times to get dressed. I think we have the same problem as we did last year in that she grew out of all her winter clothes some months ago, and she cant find anything to wear.

I know I haven't been posting lately, (Ooh look its exactly a month since my last post) but last night I did sit down and created a card from one of my new stamp sets. I'm planning on making at least one card with every stamp set this holidays. I've hurt my back so there will be no spring cleaning this time round. Yay! No really, sitting in my chair leaning against a heat pillow works wonders.

So here is last nights card. Its basic, but I like it. I have to start buying some Stampin Up ribbons to match my cardstock, patterned paper and inks now. Sigh.

New creation

Hi all,

I know I've been missing in action as of late, but I've been very busy at the school with getting the canteen up and running, fundraising, organising discos and running the shop.

But, I went to Stamp Club the other night and did some creating. Here it is.

And here it is open.

I did have a little trouble with inking up the words enough, but I will make this again. I just have to get the circle punch and that long word punch and the little sticky raised thingies and and and ........ It never ends hey.

Challenge time

Ok, instead of cleaning I've been crafting. But I'm enjoying it much more than I would cleaning...lol. This card was made for a challenge at

http://priscillastyles.blogspot.com

(I did it, I did it, thanks for the help girls)

I haven't done many challenges, and I had left over cardstock from the card I made the other day, and thought whay not put it to use. Actually I used scraps for the entire card. Not bad for someone who has only done one other challenge and that was only 2 days ago.

All the card stock and dsp are from Making Memories. Not quite the same as the original sketch, but thats called creative licence.

When Inspriation Strikes

Go with the flow.

I was inspired by a lead on Splitcoast Stampers that led me to this blog

http://craftiblog.wordpress.com/2009/04/23/2009-04-23-quad-fold-card-sample-tutorial/

(Sorry once again I'm having a problem with my links)

I was so inspired that I went ahead and made 2 cards in one evening. Here they are.

I stamped the blue card and the pink card. I've used Making Memories patterned papers and Creative Memories Card stock (I knew I'd use it one day). Of course I'm using my wonderful pens for inks. I likie likie.

Mothers day stash and another card

As promised, here is the present that my wonderful husband bought me for Mothers Day.

Isn't he just the best. I nominate him for best husband in the universe.

I sat down this afternoon and put some stamps together, and had a wonderful idea for a card, but on trying it it didn't work. But I didn't let that preturb me, I plugged on and came up with this:

Although its a lot simpler than a lot of cards I see out there, I think its lovely. Lilacs are my favourite flower, the smell of them is glorious, the colour and the way they hang off their branches.

I used some old Creative Memories card stock, (I knew it would come in handy one day), white Bazzil, and Petal Prints stamp. Of course I used my new pens, Lovely Lilac, Chocolate Chip, Handsom Hunter and Elegant Eggplant.

I like it, I like it. I was going to give it to a friend, but now I'm having second thoughts. I think I might have to start making doubles.

Monday Monday

Hello World!

I'm in a bit of a nutty mood today, so bear with me.

Thanks to the loverly people who commented on my card I made. I love it so much, I've made an identical one.

My dh who is so wonderful gave me lots of Stampin Up supplies for Mothers Day, including the full collection of pens. Drool worthy right? I had a little play with them last night, but nothing I was happy with. 3 sets of stamps as well, including my favourite Fifth Avenue Floral. I cant wait to play with those. I'll have to have a friend over to play this week I think.

No photos today, but I will take a photo of my stash of stuff I got for mothers day, later on.

Off to read other peoples blogs and see what they do with the stamps I got.

Mothers day card

Ok here is The card. What do you think?

So Saturday

It didn't start too good. What with the girls waking me up early, giggling and thumping on the wall. I felt like thumping them, but I didn't. I finished my card today, but I'm waiting on the battery on the camera to charge so I cant take a photo yet either. But I will. In the mean time, take a look at this blog

http://fionajcardsandmore.blogspot.com

while you are waiting. Isn't it gorjuss? Isn't she clever. Love those stamps.

05 May 2009

Hmmm

Life is so stressful at the moment.

Today was a busy one as per usual, and hopefully the worst for the week. Tomorrow will be a better day.

Day 1 Term 2

Oh my goodness. It was so cold yesterday, and the poor kids had to do cross country. Not only was there a cold wind, but it was also sprinkling. Poor Kyra didn't have a choice but to sit in the cold with the teachers as her foot is still healing. She was wishing she'd brought her jacket with her thats for sure.

But when I asked her how her day was she informed me that it was Fantastic. Never heard that one before. I think she's happy to be out of the wheel chair and able to play on the equipment again.

My boxes didn't arrive yet for the shop, so I had a lot of unhappy customers, but thats not my fault. I think they have very high expectations of me that I just can't keep up with. So I asked the school to put in the newsletter that preordered uniforms will be available next week. Give me a couple of days to get all that work done.

I was in bed at 7pm last night, so no crafting got done, but here is one I did earlier.

Happy Birthday Card

I made this card tonight for my Step Daughters birthday this week. She's turning 9, but is still a bit of a pink princess. Thats why I've used this stamp, which is from Stampin Up and is called Pretty Princess. Very appropriate for our girls. I've used Bazzil card stock, as I had some scraps of it, Kaiser Craft Rhinestones, SU Basic Black ink and Sugar Loaf pens (simply because I dont have any SU ones yet, but my fingers are crossed for Mothers Day.

I'll have to start thinking about Mothers Day cards now, and cards I'm going to use as gifts for my grandfather and my sister this Christmas.

Album pages for bush fire families

I got this email today and already knew about it, but thought I'd post it here too. I'm going to do some pages myself.

Good afternoon Everyone..

I would like to take some time out to ask for your help. Many of you may or may not be aware of an appeal that has been launched out of NSW by Sara Gladman (a very prominant scrapbooker and artist). Sara is trying to put together one almost completed scrapbook album for every family of the bush fire tragedy in Victoria (over 1000 homes) .

Most have lost everything however their memories will not be taken away from them and many when faced with the onset of danger just managed to grab the family photos. Some may feel that if they lost everything including photos, then this appeal would be just adding ‘salt to wound’ so to speak however in time…at the right time..I am sure photos can be given from friends and relatives so these people can treasure their precious memories, after all this is the main reason we scrapbook!

We are asking you to partially complete pages/layouts so that a picutre can be inserted by the receving family. These can be across a variety of themes such as baby, birthday, Christtmas, play time etc. Then arrange a time with me by phone or email to deliver your pages to Treasures for Angels in Kaleen. Once collated I will send these to Sara for insertion into each album.

Many people have gotten behind Sara including TV segments on Sunrise, ABC Melbourne and offers from the army to help deliver the albums in Melbourne. Many scrpabooking wholesalers have donated albums. This appeal is logistically huge! but so worth all our efforts.

Please send this email out to your friends / colleagues / bulletin boards / online forums etc so we can get the message out to Canberrans and the surrounding region. This is such an important component to the recovery of those affected and many locals will remember only so well what it was like in Canberra when it was burning only a short time ago.

If you are wanting more information please go to Saras blog http://sares1911.wordpress.com/ and read about the "Memory Gifts". I have also attached a A4 simple flyer that you can print to put into your workplace, playgroups and other public noticeboards.

I will be sending out reminder emails every 3-4 days as I know that everyone is very busy. At this stage I believe that our pages will be due to Sara by the 15 March 2009.

If you need any help whatsoever please let me know. All pages will be cherished.

I have also just set up a blog where you can go to keep updated on our progress, events and pics of layouts being produced. http://marsi09.wordpress.com/

Let the preparation and counting of laytous begin.......
